Lear About the Russian and Ukrainian Culture and Traditions
Your Future Life Partner from Russia or Ukraine will be Delighted
Throughout this article, we remind the reader that we speak in generalities that do not necessarily apply to an individual level. In any society, culture and traditions affect the way people evolve in general but do not necessarily apply to the individuality of each.
The character and personality traits of Russian women are unique and generally quite different from those of women from countries of the West. Also, it can be quite different depending if the lady lives in a large city such as Moscow, St. Petersburg, Kiev or Minsk per example versus if she lives in a small town or village.
Life in large cities of Russia and Ukraine is in many aspects very similar as in large cities of Australia and other countries of the West. Women living in these cities are less representative of the image that many of us have of the typical Russian woman of the former USSR years. They are usually more contemporary and more career-oriented than women living in small towns and rural areas, who are generally known to have preserved the traditions and family values.
However, no matter where they live, they all have one thing in common: they live in a region where there are about 10 million more women than men. So, theoretically, there are about as many single women. Of course, these women are not all at the age of looking for a husband, and it is also estimated that only a small percentage of these women are actively seeking a husband from abroad. However, it is enough to make tens of thousands of men from Australia and other countries traveling to this part of the world each year with the intent to find a life partner.
What to Learn About, To Do and Not Do
To Develop a Nice Relationship with a Russian Woman
- It is true that the Russians women generally seek an older man for life partner and generally speaking, it is even more so when seeking a life partner from abroad. In Russia and Ukraine, it is common to see couples with a 5-10 years age difference. When seeking a husband from abroad, this gap may increase further. It is most likely a question of having more stability and financial security. However, be realistic and try keeping an age gap of 15 years maximum. A bigger age gap can work but it may also decrease the chances of survival of the relationship in the mid and long term.
- Always communicate in a polite and respectful way and remain frank and humble. Women from Russia and Ukraine like men who are down to earth with realistic goals and who are able to take decisions to achieve their objectives.
- Russian women live in the largest country of the world and they are proud of their heritage. As we all do at some time or another, they may speak in a negative way about some aspects of their country but do not elaborate on this and concentrate on positive subjects.
- By their culture and traditions, Russians women see their husbands as the head of the family. However, this does not mean that they wish to have a “passive” role within the couple. They want to be involved in decisions and they generally have good common sense and a good judgement. A Russian proverb reads: "the man is the head and the woman is the neck - the head only looks where the neck wants to turn."
- Do not speak too much of your ex-spouse, especially in a negative way. In fact, avoid negative subjects and focus instead on the positive. Talk about yourself, your passions, your family, your friends, your job and your goals. Make her comfortable to do the same as you need to learn from her the same as she does from you.
- Do not try to win the heart of your correspondent by writing her that you are in love with her as this could be misinterpreted. Remember that chemistry and love can only be felt when meeting face to face.
- There are plenty of wealthy men in Russia and Ukraine. So do not spend too much time and energy trying to impress your correspondent with pictures of your nice car, your boat etc. Yes, they wish to be with a man who is financially secure but mostly, they look for a man who will love them and respect them, who is faithful and does not have a drinking problem. Here is an interesting article that depicts the difficulty Russian women have to find a serious life partner within their own country.
- While corresponding by letters, do not mention anything about intimacy or any sexual subject. Russian women are generally reserved about it, at least at the beginning of a relationship. Simply let it be in a natural way. Following a meeting and the presence of complicity, they open up and the intimate aspect of the relationship is completely normal.
- Do not attempt to get to the bottom of each subject, or to know every detail of her past. Focus on the present and the future. Tell her that you are not the type to go on forever in a virtual relationship and that you plan to meet in the near future. This will set you apart from “pen pals” and will capture and keep her attention on you. Of course, respect your word and do not make empty promises.
- Talk about your country and how you plan to take all necessary measures to facilitate her integration. Let her know that you already inquired about available resources so that she can take language courses, if required, and about any other resource that will help her feel at home and ease her integration in your country.
- Of course, the above suggestions are simply personal advice from a man who went through this journey. They may be good for some men and not to others. Everyone has their way of doing things and the important thing is to achieve our goals. However, if you follow these suggestions, at least in general, you will surely increase your chances of reaching your goal that is to find a lovely Russian or Ukrainian wife.
